What does teaching mean to me?
In order to summarize my teaching philosophy I give you a “top ten” list of my beliefs:
I believe in….
- A communicative approach to language teaching.
- Student-centered, social-constructivist learning in which students take responsibility and an active role in the learning process.
- Staying positive and motivating students.
- Making learning a meaningful experience for all the actors involved. Alowing them to explore and create as much as possible.
- Teaching through games. Every activity can be transformed into game-like, and games can be included in every lesson.
- Classroom and behavior management as essential for creating an adequate learning atmosphere.
- Using communication to build trustful relationships with students and getting to know them, and thus contribute to the construction of a relaxed learning environment.
- R-E-S-P-E-C-T as a two-way street which should always be present in the classroom and outside of it.
- Cross curricular and extra-curricular activities as means to enrich the teaching-learning experience and to involve students and allow them to experience learning as fun, integrative and challenging.
